A Glimpse of Husky History

During the Diphtheria epidemic of Alaska in 1925 a relay team of Siberian Huskies were used to transport the lifesaving serum to Nome, Alaska[1]. The dogs ran a total of 658 miles in just five and a half days[2]. Balto, the lead dog on the last day of the “serum run” is a well know hero dog[3]. The picture displayed is of Balto and Musher Gunner Kaasen[4]
